"Sis, this is really livin'!!"

I learned a powerful lesson about what it means to really live life from a friend I met through my Africa expeditions. There are moments in life that are so sweet and precious that you've just got to take a step back and say, "Sis, this is really livin'!!" Today was full of these wonderful moments and I wanted to share a few of them.

  • Walking around the lake with my dear family, watching the kids get as close to the water as possible.
  • Listening to Steph tell Jake all day that she was fishing (no fishing pole in sight).
  • Sitting on the patio furniture for the first time since the fall.
  • Pulling out the 'ol oboe and playing some tunes.
And finally the moment that led me to write a new post after two months. Let me do my best to paint a picture of the moment:

Rick is chillin' on the couch playing the guitar. Holly's in the background playing with her toys.
Heidi's at the table doing a puzzle with the kids. Everyone's happily putting their section of the puzzle together.

Meanwhile, I am sitting at my laptop in the middle of it all, thinking about how grateful I am to be a part of such a wonderful family.
At this point I stop, look around me, and say to myself, "Sis, this is really livin'!"

Shocker!! A new post. I'm thrilled. And what a fabulous post at that. Thanks for including me and my fishing. It continued until the kids were fast asleep. We live a rich life, that is for sure. And tomorrow we get to do it all over again and celebrate little Holly! YEAHHHH!!

Phew! I am so glad you are still alive. I've missed hearing about what you are up to. You DO have a great family.

How's the assessment tool coming?

Can I just say that I feel priveleged to have been part of the quarterly update of Snapshot! Wow! And yes, that was living. It was one of those rare, peaceful, perfect moments in my crazy life. Thanks for capturing it. You're the best!!

Ahhh! Heather! Just reading that makes me want to hear your voice. My grandma kept saying that "Wow, now, we're really living!" in my last visit with her before she died. So it was a touching post for me, even if it had different meaning.

I love and miss you!

So great to read a post from you! My mom and I often talk about people that leave the good things in their life looking for something 'better', they get tired of the mundane, but what I don't think they realize is the beauty and the joy in the day to day life. This is livin' . . . well put.

Funny, I came home from working in Heid's garden yesterday and I was thinking to myself, "If this is really living, then just shot me." Just kidding, I was thinking the same thing last night. All three of my daughters, each in their own unique way, make my life one of really living it. Except,of course, for the huge ulcer I am getting from some of the tension you bring into my life with your great news-but-news. Love ya.
